This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
Chez Madge, the On Inn for this hash , is actually a secluded villa surrounded by orange , lemon and olive groves , set in the foothills of Heron Hill. Lingmoor rises to the west and a valley meanders from north to south through bluebell woods.
Off set the pack.Small in number but large in volume. The ON ONs ringing out loud and clear across the valley.
This was a pack going at great pace through this Heron Hill garden of eden. Led by Jelly Tot and Midget Gem! Past a swamp, where BarrowNil and Clumsy Sod were holed up in the pretence of partaking in a football training session (chosen instead of hashing!)
The flower and chalk trail set by Sid, was double laid and very easy to follow, but it didn't stop Lurch from going completely off course and ending up lost in a bluebell wood. And soon after commenting that there wasn't much flour, as he passed three blobs spaced about three feet from each other!
A Beer Stop oasis was found under the shadow of an ancient castle and soon after we found ourselves passing by a cemetery and down to a track, looking suspiciously like an ex canal, from the times when oranges, olives etc. were transported by ship from sub tropical Kendal, to the cooler climbs of Lancaster and beyond.
Over more hill and vale and On Inn to Chez Madge, where a barbeque and complete back catalogue of The Mighty Quo's music awaited us.
Baldbrick and I instigated a makeshift circle, but by now there was a general feeling of apathy amongst the hash! Down downs for the hares and Baldbrick(I think) I was too busy eating, drinking and merry making to notice.
Thanks to Madge and Sid for the tour of Little Algarve right here on these golden shores.
