This was our 3rd visit. We also visited on...
About 12 hashers and 4 virgins met in the car park of The Greyhound, Halton for this full moon run which took us down one bank of the River Lune to the Crook O'Lune car park and back along the other side, returning via Halton Bridge to where we had started - unfortunately too late for supper!
It wasn't as boring as it might sound since these well used footpaths are through very pleasant woodlands smelling of wild garlic and with blue bells just about to open and, if you run at my speed, there was time to enjoy the river in full flow, enjoy the views and see the heron fishing.
The only real unexpected bit was due to the sudden closure of the railway bridge forcing a diversion along part of the path which not only made the run slightly longer but introduced a few more strenuous sections and introduced me for one to a part of the riverside path which I have never used before.
As I was left to take care of the knitting circle, I cannot report any exciting happenings in front although a down down was given to Bubbles for going through (or over) a fence so something must have led him astray - Forever Blowing perhaps?
Other down downs included those for the Hares and the Virgins, to Slackbladder and Tooth Fairy for deviating from the route, to Off His Trolley just for being so and to Forever Blowing and myself for snitching.
On the journey home we were rewarded with the beautiful sight of an enormous full moon rising over the fells into a really clear sky just to remind us why we had done it in the first place.
