Langdon Beck - Langdon Beck YHA Weekend

The next morning everyone looked like shit - except me

Hashdrunk's 100th run began with an immediate Wimp Rambo split. This made those nursing sore heads dig deep into their reserves; the Rambo split took 7 foolhardy r*nners on a long looping gallop upstream and back downstream only to find themselves clawing their way through the wimps who were making surprisingly good progress through wonderful running terrain. A short steep climb was followed by a glorious long downhill springy grassy run which led over several small bridges and past a tidy quarry to the head of High Force. 32 hashers did well to resist the temptation to nudge Mouldy off the edge of the gorge but sense won out and Mouldy survived the day. A short downhill jog from the force took us back over the river to a beer and cake stop. The home leg was harder as legs refused to work and flour was scarce. The Rambos survived the vicious sheep dog - restrained after taking a chunk out of Cybersptic's backside.

Down downs for Forever Blowing for being a blind female, Talking Pussy for not being well! A quick shower back at the hostel and back to the pub for lunch and a beer or three.

A convivial afternoon and evening were spent either sleeping, drinking, watching/listening to the rugby or playing Jenga and scrabble. Dinner - served by 4 former GMs was followed by a cross between beer tasting and "Just a Minute". Here we must mention the Youth Hostel. Langdon Beck is award winning and eco friendly - having its own windmill, solar panels and sewage reed bed. Everything was either labelled or for sale - or both! The warden and food were great. Well worth a return visit.
