R*n 136: Austwick

Well what a turn out and such a beautiful day too.  Of course Hash Drunk and myself didn't expect any less as our fans came out in their droves to see us back in the beautiful Lune Valley.  Hash Drunk was on fine form too as he had saved up all of his bottom burps to share with his friends.  He's very thoughtful that way.

After lots of re-acquaintances and shaking off the previous night's alcohol we were off in the fabulous surroundings of Austwick. We were advised by the hares that there were no less than THREE wimp/rambo splits and TWO beer stops (must know that EH3 have neither, and that we were missing these creature comforts that make life worth living) - or was it that we were in for an exceedingly long run .......!!! We were about to find out.

The pack soon dispersed as we left the little village and wound our way up through fields and hills. The trail was well marked and after crossing several fields and stiles we came across the first split. After a while the rambos were spotted high up like little dots at the top of a ridge. We made our way down to the first beer stop to be greeted by beer, juice and biscuits. Oh luxury. Before the rambos had a chance to catch up the wimps were off again.

The trail was amazing and the weather was surprisingly warm given snow was still to be found (by some .... ) on the ground.  Cum Yak Yak was having great fun trying to prevent the snow from melting so that she could pelt her dad with it. And one or two others (to be reported to the RA) also had a great time having snowball fights.

The pack gradually regrouped back at the car park and a very large circle was formed for down-downs. These were awarded,among others too numerous to remember, to: Upperskirt, Cum Yak Yak and Cousin It for throwing snowballs, Hash Drunk and myself for just being there, and Hash Drunk for being beaten by a teddy bear.

Many hashers then retreated to the local pub for more beer and grub where they 'pushed' out the locals to make way for the roudy crowd. Well what else would you expect!!?
