Slough Farm

I thought that we would be in trouble when we had to turn back coz I had forgotten the rice salad. I knew we were in trouble when we took the wrong lane and drove through an electric fence.  I really knew we were in trouble as the farmer drove up the lane to set us free.  For some reason he wasn’t bothered and sent us on our way without a slapped wrist.

So sure enough we arrived for the circle late and were duly dobbed in as scribes.

I was definite that we were in for trouble when the Septics admitted it was a long run, that there were 2 beer stops and the Rambo split was long.

The Rambos knew they were in trouble as they struggled in the heat up and up and up.  Some of the Rambos thought they might be in trouble for thinking that they could do the Rambo split.

The wimps knew we were in trouble as the Grand Master Emeritus told us off for gassing.  The hares thought they would be in trouble when the Rambos didn’t arrive at the beer stop.  The wimps thought they would be in trouble coz they didn’t wait at the hash halt – but how long would the Rambos be?

The hares should definitely have been in trouble for daring to set a long loop back for the Rambo split.  The hares really were in trouble for not laying or even recce-ing the route on home.

We would have been in trouble if Mr FurCoat and Mrs Highway had had to wait very much longer.  Archie was in trouble for trying to eat our guest’s clothes.  Pardon Me was in trouble for staying out too late.

Down Downs saw many people in trouble, deservedly or not,  - but that’s what circles are for.

But no-one was in trouble for a fantastic barbecue and chilled end to a long R*n – definitely a normal r*n and FM r*n laid consecutively.  I know there are no rules but one r*n a day is enough!  Specially in such heat when we know that food, hosts and guests are waiting for us.

Many thanks to our hosts at Slough Farm – much appreciated by us all.

Next time we will arrive on time, for a normal length r*n – or we’ll all be in trouble again.
