This was our 2nd visit. We also visited on...
Following a week or two of rain, we actually had a rain free[ish] run, though I'd be lying if I said it was a dry run! Loads of standing water in the fields that we had to get through because, of course, the stile or gate was stuck in the middle of the pond - sorry flooded field and path. Some bright spark [me] decided to avoid the water and nip over a gate instead - not doing that again, got a down down for it!
However, we all managed to get round en-masse, except for No More Cum, who I suspect is trying to start a breakaway hash run by doing the course backwards. Unsuccessfully I might add. The rest of us lemming like stuck together and tried to get round the best we could.
We were led on a fruitless loop through more water that Feels on Wheels has named it a 'septic-loop' in honour of septic who seems to specialize in these and this Sunday was no different. Septic was there watching over the hashers from his vantage point like 'a manevolent pixie' [Feels on Wheels description, not mine!].
The beer stop was a welcome respite from the now very soggy and cold feet, and we all quickly consumed the left overs from last nights party [more of that later]. Who managed to eat the gateau? Well done!
On the final leg home we were treated to more obstacles - a ford, but there was a handy bridge giving us safe passage and allowing us to admire the new snowdrops, then back to the start, in time for the pub to open for lunch - yum.
Considering half of the hashers were partying all Saturday night and dancing into the early hours, I think we all did remarkably well!
What fun!
