This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
Worried faces at the start of this one as on arrival in Warton no hares in sight. Even more concern when the hares arrived in a car with mountain bikes on the back having been out setting trail for several days (by the look of them!!). Wimps were offered a lift uphill over the first 6 miles whilst rambos were offered backward facing arrows set by The Accused riding downhill on his bike which gave us a blob every couple of miles.
The wimps managed to get far enough ahead to ensure the Rambos put on a good sweat before catching them up, this just before Leighton Moss. We walked through the bird sanctuary together making as much noise as possible all but oblivious to the great tits on display, onwards to the beer stop where all but a few drank warm coke rather than warm beer. The Judge informed us that The Accused had gone ahead to shorten trial but was most likely completely lost by now. So we set off in the general direction of Warton up a long hill to the next W/R split where all elected to do the rambos, this after 90mins out was a reflection on the excellent weather organised by the hares. Over the crag careful route choice enabled us to ignore the meandering trial set by the accused and take the more direct route he had obviously intended to one of the regions most outstanding viewpoints.
From here downhill through steepening limestone and woodland tracks until emerging back at the bucket. An excellent hash giving all an opportunity to for a bit of fast running and tit counting.
After an appropriate amount of indecision the GM allowed Morticia to volunteer as RA and DD's were awarded to the hares, The Accused was accused of confusing the Rambos and The Judge was guilty of being his accomplice. A DD given to our GM for being a Darling and Lurch for taking a call on his mobile during the circle. Others were given for reasons unremembered.
Darling GM took the opportunity to outline his ideas for the 50th run including appointing a special committee to make sure nothing gets done - is this a vote of no confidence in his appointed mismanagement? Anyway freshly fired up from his trip to Aberdeen our Darling GM is anxious to organised so watch the website for further information.
Meanwhile don't forget to let Bubbles know your menus selections - by 17th (That means you too Confessor wherever you are) for the Wednesday evening full moon hash on 24th July. Please also offer your support to Slack Bladder who is busy planning the full moon weekend in August.
