Calder Vale

Following the recent Euro championships....... the teams gathered in the grounds of the Calder Vale Stadium, anticipating a game of two halfs (preferably with refreshments at half time). The players stretched and warmed their muscles and quickly followed the warm up with rain coats as it began heaving down (no roof to be rolled across at this stadium unfortunately)!

The coaches containing the fans arrived - they cheered and off the players went to play the greatest game of the year in the unfamiliar area. The first half felt like an uphill battle but soon they were on a fabulous flat pitch, although it was a bit soggy in parts. Towards the end of the first half, the teams separated with the Ronaldos going on fast and hard and further, whilst the Rooneys took the easy route towards the substitute bench.  The Rooneys got in front playing their ace card and ended up 1 - Nil in front at half time.

The half time took place at the referees home who kindly laid on orange quarters and isotonic drinks (Oreos and Beer) and then the whistle blew and the second half of the game started. Again it was an uphill battle but then a long pitch towards the home goal and the Ronaldos easily took the lead! Oh yes 2-1 was the final result and the team were whooping for joy and the fans were cheering and it was all over back at the stadium.

A post-match review tookplace in minute detail back at the On-Inn (which could be described as cheap food and poor service but good beer). A naming ceremony took place at the On Inn and Francis was named "Miss Calculation" as a tenuous link to her teaching.

The glorious game was played with the excellent referree giving us a brilliant setting - BRING IT ON (for the next one Stinkerbelle)!
