Lancaster - 500th R*N

Would you Adam and Eve it !! Here we are 500 runs after starting up and hash is stronger, fitter, wiser. O.k. Maybe not the wiser bit. A magnificent turnout for this Lancaster city run, in fact our best turnout for many months. Pity hash flash left his camera at home DD No 1.

Fear of parking wardens had us spread out across the city but fortune favoured the brave and no tickets were given despite clear transgressions at Green Ayre. We got on our way after repeating after me .... Check back ... Find trail.... Etc etc. No hope of that working GM

Our Pre-hash circle saw us popping corks and downing Cava to wish ourselves a happy 500 run and On On to r*n 1000. We were off….Over the bridge and upstream on the north bank of the Lune with a few convoluted checks thrown in, through a well-kept estate and on on until the RW split which brought us to the canal and the weird check back. This check back did not have the wimps fooled for one second, for the Rambo types it was another story. Slackbladder did well to keep up with Highway, Highway did well to stay alive given his lack of green cross code skills. Morticia did not foul the trail but plenty of others did DD 2, 3 and 4.

Forever Blowing and Dormouse were seen following Dickhead on a cunning little Shortcut back on to the canal path. DD 5,6 and 7

Beer stop on the canal bridge where a young entrepreneur involved with the Roses rowing event tried to sell food to the masses when we had already had Belgian chocolates and what remained of the biscuits after Bubbles had scoffed as many as humanly possible. No takers for the food therefore no income for the entrepreneur, dream shattered.

Talking about being shattered it was about this time that Slackbladder finally caught up, Highway having been at the beer stop for 10 minutes, how does he do it?

Back along the canal with excursions on both banks and then a cut back to the start, lots of consternation re the lack of a proper pub stop, soon settled by a fine selection of beers provided by Baldbrick at only £2.46 each if memory serves. All right Baldbrick keep your hair on I know they were only a pound each really. Seriously though good work.

A grand curry house for the on inn plenty of great food for all, well looked after and no risk of going short. I do suspect that anyone denying Syd her fair share would not have survived the night.

As always a great convivial evening topped by Whitenoise being seated next to Layby which evened out the acoustics somewhat. No real circle to speak of but a naming ceremony for ‘Allo ‘Allo, 300 r*n T shirt for Bitter – but no camera – and a very welcome return for Born-again hasher The Pat Controller.

Well done hares for a great afternoon out and thanks all for making LVH3 such a brilliant hash. Get yourselves booked in for 500 Celebrations Part 2, Skipton 11-13th July!
