Beetham - No More Cum's Pre-Thailand Run

Welcome to two new virgins – Sue and Alan. Weather was great, company was great and we were hoping for a great trail.

We set off from the familiar surroundings of the Wheatsheaf which we ran past during the full Moon run on Tuesday. Off up the road, across some fields, through some woods and arrived at the Fairy Steps. Here’s where the fun started – Lurch, got to the top of the Fairy Steps first and being soooo taaaallllll noticed some flour at the bottom of the steps so off we went down them. Lurch also decided to do some rock climbing while waiting for the pack to arrive. Found a check, checked, found some trail, so baying like a pack of hounds we set off only to end up back at the top of the Fairy Steps again! So after more searching we found another trail way down the hill and got going again. It transpired that the hare thought it was tooo dodgy for hashers to negotiate the steps so laid the trail around the edge – we did the steps twice!

Back on trail through more woods and across more fields we found ourselves on a road. Lurch and I did loads of checking here, missed the trail completely and didn’t hear the calls. Sometime later we caught the wimps up and found that Baldbrick thought we were ahead and was shouting at us to say which way the trail went at the next check! Oh dear – the hash was slowly deteriorating!

Back on trail again, we went over more fields and along more roads and eventually found a little hare sitting on a fence waiting for us at the beer stop.

As the hare was blocking the lane with his car he gallantly offered to help a mountain biker to get past the car. Once this was all sorted and after some waffle about two more checks, a wimps/Rambo split and other such stuff we set off up the hill.

A while further on we covered the only path that clashed with the full Moon run – this didn’t matter cos it’s a great path and only the rambo’s on Tuesday did it. Lurch and I did the rambo’s loop, down the hill, through the caravan park and back up the hill and eventually arrived back at the Wheatsheaf where we were just in time for the circle.

The virgin’s were royally welcomed, a few down downs awarded – notably the Septics for use of mobile phones, Smartie for chatting all the way round, Loose Elastic for some convoluted problem with being a front runner and Baldbrick for throwing apples at Upperskirt.

This was the last hash that No More Cum will be haring before he retires and goes off to Thailand for 6 months. We thought it would be good to give him a good send off so out of the back of the Septic Tank came a roasting tin and some ICE! NMC knew the procedure and sat on the ice while we wished him well.

A great trail, a good day out and all the best to NMC in his retirement.

On On to Christmas in Thailand!
