This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
On the outskirts of the historic city of Lancaster is the very special village of Hornby. This is where, in 2010, Jayne & Chris Ledsham found the Castle Inn, having been neglected for years, was in a rather sad and sorry state. Having fallen in love with the building and having a revelation about its potential, they began renovations. Now it is a shining example of Georgian architecture, a delightful and warm place to be, and nestled on the cusps of the Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland, and the Lake District, it is simply the perfect area to visit.
The 3 Hares hash with Scarecrows!
We gathered outside one hare’s house and after a short intro we set off. The first diversion off the straight and narrow was missed but we soon all got back on trail, which took us in a loop nearly back to where we started! Off we went along the trail to a gather and then the fun, fun, fun started! The 3 hares took us up and up and up. Then down, down, down over a bridge and then up and up and up, eventually going down, down and down past some Scarecrows to the beer stop. We had been through some gorgeous countryside with gorgeous views. At some point in time the wimps went off on their trail which I guess was good too. They made it to the beer stop ahead of the rambos. One of the 3 hares, namely Anoraksia tried and succeeded in convincing a couple of gullible rambos into believing the wimps hadn’t got their yet and yes I was one of them! The other, Twisted, got a down down!
We set off to catch up with the wimps past more Scarecrows and along the river. We did catch them up and we all made it back in a pack – good haring – maybe we need 3 hares more often!
There was a circle with a few down downs and then into the pub.
It was good, good, good!
