This was our 9th visit. We also visited on...
We gathered and part way through the spiel from the Hare we realised that our visitor Any Old B*stard was wearing new shoes, as an experienced hasher he knew the drill and drank his charge without complaint. We set off trying not to get run over by Madge and Syd arriving late again! Up a path that was full of nettles before going over a field and approaching the motorway. I'm sure the motorway is busier now then ever before - the noise was deafening and it seemed like a waste of time to shout On On as no-one could hear but as we are well behaves hounds, we did. Over the motorway and then an unofficial gather called by the GM so we could all hold hands and not get separated as we crossed back under the motorway - nasty things motorways!
Over a number of fields before emerging on the road in Ellel where poor Lurch got very confused by the fishhook and wandered off into the cemetery. Anyway we took off up the road to the centre of learning and learnt that the motorway was still nasty and noisy as we ran through the woods alongside it. Then down the hill to the beer stop. Loverly!
After a leisurely stop by the duck pond we walked gently through to the traffic lights and up the track to a road. Here poor Lurch had another bout of confusion and realised that if you are on the wrong side of the road looking for flour on the floor it's easy to miss the arrow chalked on the gatepost on the other side! still we all set off along the road and the confusion set in again as a number of hounds missed the trail in to the housing estate and caused consternation at the fishhook on the towpath when they couldn't be found. Gave up and went back to the On inn where they were so it was a happy ending.
No RA's were present so a few charges from the floor were made and then we retired to the pub.
