This was our 6th visit. We also visited on...
In true hash fashion the worse the weather the larger the pack, all gathered for a virgin hare (Group Sax) and non-virgin co-hare (Forever blowing). Following a brief blizzard earlier on the weather had actually settled and, for once, the full moon was fully visible shining benignly down as the pack set off an immediately upwards to the high point of the hash - the snow capped Helm. Up Up Up etc until the bella vista of Kendal and Oxenholme bathed in moonlight opened up. Along the ridge and gingerly down the steep sides slid the has until tarmac was once again encountered briefly. Down a lane which had at the end of it a pub that looked just liked the On Inn..Smartie quite rightly expressed significant bemusement when the hash ran past and continued up another lane. Shiggy, fields etc. and a great rambos’ split until the piece d’ resistance of the sheet ice road back across the shoulder of the helm. Never had a full moon meal and beer been more deserved. Three cheers to the hares for a sterling effort and for not losing anyone or even injuring them! It was too cold for a circle so no dishonourable mentions this time.
