Staveley-in-Cartmel

It was a warm springlike day when we parked off the A590 near Staveley to start this r*n. We were not informed we would need crampons and a climbing rope to start on the trail but they would have been a great help. Instead of Wimp/Rambo splits to slow the FRBs the hares said there would be "backchecks" which meant (when we got to one) that we would have to retrace our steps by the number given and find an alternative route. Fortunately, I only came across one of these backchecks and found that the hare acompanying us had marked a trail after we had passed. This trail joined our previous route later to make what Speedbump called a "lollipop". We saw lots of frogs while we were r*nning and several of our harriettes tried to kiss them but it was obvious they were the wrong type of frog. We were very pleased that  Dormouse had recovered enough from his recent hospitalisation to carry the beer up to the beer stop beside the reservoir. On returning to the circle we found we had to christen a new member to the hash. After much deliberation he was named "Big Chopper" after he was heard to mention splitting logs (I think that was what was said but I am hard of hearing). Several people were awarded "Downdowns" for fouling the trail (including me).We enjoyed a good lunch at the Gilpin bridge washed down with Robinsons beer.
