This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
With so many variants - when do we start?, what can we eat?, how do we get there? - it was a wonder that we had so many arriving at the right time, at the right place - and with plenty of time for tea, coffee and even a sausage roll before the GM called us to order for the circle and a minute's silence at 11am.
Our duty done and the now obligatory prologue to a Sir Tom Tom run we set off with clear instructions, duly ignored, detailed information, typically forgotten and a fresh set of legs to replenish the tired Hubberholme ones. Large Package, Just Sarah, Titty Touch and ICU Shagger replacing Off His Trolley and White Noise who had returned to Lancashire to do their Civic Duty.
A sneaky little hairpin as we left the carpark led us immediately to the steepest field in the valley and on to a series of fields and a chain (or one, if you were blind) of fish hooks and down through the little hamlet of Sedbusk and along the river bank as if heading for Hawes. But with impeccable timing a Hare's Beer and Biscuit Carrier arrived and duly refreshed and just a bit too late to stay warm we set off. But wait ....what was the shouting and calls of distress that could be heard all throughout the valley?? It was only Bubbles and Dormouse taking great pleasure in winding up the Harassed Hare and setting off on the in trail. As I said - ignored instructions and forgotten information.
A short detour along the high street of Hawes, past craft shops, fortunately closed and a Nail Bar, that didnt have the GM's colour, we were returned back to the river, Fish hook number 3 and Beer Stop No 2.
Back through the fields - a final fish hook and a strange assortment of arrows and we all arrived safely back to the Green Dragon to a brief circle and a welcome promptly served meal until we all parted company with promises of meeting again on Tuesday - we just cant stay away!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the weekend - and that really was everyone. It wouldn't have been the same without any of you. In the words of J B Priestly "Hubberholme is one of the smallest and most pleasantest places in the world"
