Botton - Midsummer-ish day out.

It was great to be invited back to Lower House Sensory Farm, which provides outdoor activities and support for people with dementia. It is set on a hill with panoramic views to the Pennines, the Lakes and The Forest of Bowland.

The weather was somewhat kinder than on our previous visit with blue skies and sunshine. It was much drier underfoot too. Last time I struggled to keep my trainers on   such was the suction of the bog and shiggy.

The run took us along ridges, into valleys, across streams, through woodlands and gave us panoramic views to distant mountains, wending inevitably uphill to return to the farm.

Sadly STT and Baldbrick arrived late and blamed our hosts for lack of signage (how rude) which almost erupted into a domestic between the hosts. Strange that the other 24 of us managed to arrive on time including the newcomers. STT put in some effort and caught up with the Wimps but Baldbrick couldn't be bothered and thought that getting drinks to the beer stop by car was more than enough effort for one day.

Dormouse and Speedbump warned us that they would be late too and asked for markings at the start of the run so that they could set off in the direction of the out trail, a novelty for them!

Meanwhile Antiseptic managed to get halfway round with her arm in a sling having broken it in two places, three nights earlier on a previous hash run. A heroic effort, take note you whingers.

Down downs went to:

  • STT and Baldbrick for whining, especially about the lack of signage but also because they rarely desist in this activity.
  • the Hares, Forever Blowing, Major Twit and Racey Miss for a fabulous trail and for providing the delicious lunch.
  • Virgin Mei who Mei or Mei not come again. We Mei never know.
  • We tried to christen Sonia after completing her third run with us but just could not come up with a sufficiently witty or appropriate name, maybe next time.
  • to the hosts for allowing us to use their facilities.

The run raised £170 for LHSF, a good effort.

On on, Morticia
