Leasgill - In the Bleak Midwinter

Three sunday r*ns in one month - how lucky are we?

Hounds arrived negatively tested and festively dressed ready for a 'short' run before an outside winter bbq and circle.  The firepit was already lit and it was hard to leave, but it was only a Full Moon hash, no beer stop so we'd be back soon.  In very un-hash like fashion we waited for a late Wears The Soap and then proceeded, the wimps being provided with an Uber Wimp map - just in case!

Up the hill, of course, and into the fog - rambos were quickly invisible as they searched for flour which looked like frost, or was it frost that looked flour? A mysterious sound that could have been an On On was heard from somewhere - or was it the phantom raspberry blower of old Leasgill town?

Down on to the old railway track the rambos with Santa in their midst were soon off like the Polar Express, complete with steam as they flew down the track - until they hit the fish hook - or was it a candy cane? To give them their due they all fulfilled their hooking duties all the way back to the wimps who were just emerging out of the shrubbery on to the track - even some wimps retraced their steps to regroup - after all it was to be a short run, so lets make the most of it.

We crossed several fields that I remember for them all looking the same - sheep and trees mysteriously forming out of the fog, some with more nearly frozen muck than others.  Thunderdick was clearly getting some rambo practice in to make the most of the absence of our FRB rambo from last week - Cotside Manner.  So he missed the enforced toilet stop where posteriors were photographed for posterity.

The rambos and wimps split duly - but after that, who knows?  There were a couple of cunningly almost hidden arrows through a very muddy farmyard which clearly no one really wanted to traverse and then onto the road with the bad news of a roadsign claiming Heversham 2 miles.  Surely not - there must be a shortcut over the fields? Sorry guys - 2 miles later, but with some beautiful photos in our phones we arrived back at the On Inn.

Rambos took the warm space around the fire and waited, and waited, for the wimps and the bucket.  On their return it appeared that they had clocked up more kilometers than their faster and further peers - but everyone was in good festive humour - and how could they not be as the bucket beer and fragrant mulled wine flowed, the barbecue continued to cook and food kept appearing from the house and garage.

The circle brought down downs for the Scrooges who werent festively dressed, the rambo who missed the toilet stop and of course the hares whose short biscuit-less r*n clocked up more than 10k.

Thanks everyone, but particularly Late Cummer and Chapped Lips for a superb start to Christmas 2021!  On On, hopefully, to Boxing day bash.
