River Lune - Big Birthday BBQ!

What a great day for a hash and definitely a great day for a special 60th birthday hash. Weather was dry, sunny and very windy.

We had a great welcome from the birthday hare, Forever Blowing, and she told us some info regarding the long first Rambo’s split and the dodgy second split which was for the ‘sure-footed’ only and a request for the hounds to look after the virgin hounds.

Then the only way to go on this birthday hash was downhill as we started off from Forever Blowing and Bubbles house at the top of the hill!

We ran across some fields and arrived at the first of the Rambo/Wimps splits. We had been warned that the first Rambo split was long, so I decided not to do it!

I went over the waterworks bridge with CM and up across the meadow to the viewpoint, beautiful view, before entering the bluebell woods which were gorgeous. CM decided to wait for BM so I said ‘hello’ to Septic Canary as she rests amongst the bluebells and carried on down the hill with PMU, HD and TG to the ‘scary’, ‘Only for the Sure-footed’ Rambo split! As there were two unsure-footed members of our group – me being one – we decided to go for it! We wandered about a few times tracking trail, got our feet wet crossing the river (it was very slippery!) and made it back up the hill to the BBQ.

The hospitality was wonderful. We had a good circle including two namings – welcome to Game Bird and Great Tit. A down-down for Cyber for not listening, a Celebratory down-down for Rockafella for being great and loads for the birthday girl including a lovely cake.

A cracking ‘Special Birthday Hash’
