This was our 4th visit. We also visited on...
It was a little cool and threatening rain when we met at The Patten Arms on this Sunday morning a very long time ago indeed, but we soon warmed up as we weaved our way through the wheat fields of Winmarleigh and on to the (new to me) bridleway towards Claylands.
It was here that is Rambos, somewhat overenthusiastically, missed the switch back and obliviously trotted off over the footbridge and into Scorton. However, this error was duly noted and the appropriate punishment was administered afterwards.
As we approached Scorton, a few of us wondered whether we really were going to have to hit the hills and head on up Nicky Nook. The Rambos tentatively strode up Tithebarn Lane whilst the Wimps took the scenic route along the Millennium Way.
However, our fears were unfounded. A right turn half way up Tithebarn took us towards Woodacre Great Wood where a somewhat dubious trail led us into the woods and through the wilderness. However, we soon realised something was amiss, backtracked and found a right turn that took us down the hill, over the railway and onto Gubberford Lane where we were met by ____and her camera.
South along the Millennium Way we soon caught up with the well rested Wimps, gave them a cheery ‘hello’ and trotted onto the beer stop where we enjoyed our fizzy refreshments and a group photo (including 3 happy dogs).
The potter back to Winmarleigh was relatively uneventful with only a few frisky cows to come between us and lunch.
Plenty of down downs to finish due to general misbehaviour and the welcoming of your newest recruit, me, Dolittle.
Thank you for a lovely Hash and maybe, one day, when I have time away from the husband, 4 children, 3 dogs, 9 chickens and my Archaeology degree, I’ll join you for a r*n again!
