This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
It was a beautiful hot sunny Sunday for Hash no 8. The hashers gathered at The William Mitchell on Westgate sun gear on and raring to go and set off on a tour of the houses.
Meanwhile.....
The Addams Family started
After everyone else had departed
But thanks to the hares, they caught up with the rest.
There was confusion at the next check. Lurch took one trail and unbaptised Bob took the other. Both shouted ON ON. However Bob was shouting ON ON after a single arrow and Lurch was on the trail.
We turned off down Westcliffe and on to Oxcliffe where thankfully the false trail was short. It's a busy road that runs out of pavement from time to time.
We realised we were heading for the coast and landed up on the promenade between Heysham and Morecambe. Lurch, Bob and Pudsley missed the check and were well on their way to a tour of the nature reserve before giving up and turning back. Being a fit lot they soon caught us up and overtook us.
Further along the prom towards Morecambe, the hares, Bubbles and The Accused had thoughtfully arranged refreshments. Lurch's children took the opportunity to practice playing "tunes" on the bugle much to the bemused looks of passers by.
As we left Bubbles warned us that the tide would soon be in. The tide? No one had mentioned a swim. We were certain he was pulling our legs, but no as we arrived at Sandylands we were directed down steep steps onto the beach and over an old sea wall to jump into filthy, slimy, mud.
We returned to the prom at The Battery where UK watersports were exhibiting their wares. It would have been pleasant to linger and browse but ON ON blasted the bugle.We continued along the prom tempted by ice creams, drinks, snacks, go-karting and other amusements, did a circuit of The Midland Hotel and crossed to The Platform and Morrisons.
By the next check we were trying to work out the quickest route back to base and hoped the hares had been kind. We took a ginnell between some houses and landed up on West End Road. We turned right onto a path alongside the railway line and past more housing that led into a children's playground and out onto a cycleway. We passed Trimpell football ground and carried on up the cycleway back into the houses and ON IN.
Down downs were served on;
It was an ideal run for a hot day with few hills, a sea breeze and superb views of The Lakes.
Thank-you hares.
