This was our 3rd visit. We also visited on...
Being a virgin writer-upper, you may have to make some allowances for my lack of knowledge about hashing, my spelling and most importantly my memory!!! The hares were: Forever blowing, Bedside Manner, Cotside Manner and Thunder Dick. The r*n started from Warton Crag car park. It was a lovely day (I think!!). The hares gave general information of the r*n and the Rambo’s and the wimp’s set off. The trail went up the crag but there wasn’t much r***ing going on (well, from me anyway). There didn’t appear to be much chalk/flour to show the way (well I never see any, too busy looking at my foot placement, ha ha). The scenery was lovely with lots of limestone cliffs, maybe the chalk was very well camouflaged. The Rambo’s quickly left the wimp’s to fend for themselves but there weren’t many cries of On On heard (maybe that had something to do with ageing ears though??). This led to the wimps taking a wrong turn and arriving at the beer stop very prematurely (think we were lured by the smell of the hops from the Old Schoolhouse micro-brewery). What a lovely beer stop it was, apart from the lack of glass in their windows brrrrr!!! Circle time back at the car park was full of the usual sarcastic remarks, all made and taken in good fun, and lots of laughing. But the majority of the laughs were at Lurch’s fashion faux pas, odd trainers, hope he manages to find a pair for next time!!!
The On Inn was at Moss View and was very well attended by all the hungry hashers who stuffed their faces with home-made soup, bread and cakes. This doubled up as a special birthday celebration for Thunder Dick who had reached his half century.
And a good time was had by all. Thanks for the helping hands round the trail.
