What a scorcher! !

11am and already in the high 20's and of course ,we set off up a long, steep hill. The Wimps took so long to find the route from the first check that the Rambos caught up, then overtook us. The white stuff became increasingly elusive. The hares blamed this on local saboteurs but Speed bump has picked up a thing or two from Dormouse ( Scottish) over the years and admitted that she'd only used half a bag of flour on the trail ( wimps 6 miles, Rambos, closer to 9 miles)and had 2 whole bags remaining, enough for at least 4 more hashes!

The beer stop, by the canal, was a long time coming and when it did we descended on the buckets desperate for a drink. Thirst quenched we devoured the biscuits. We were also delighted to watch a family of swans set off down the canal, Mum, Dad and 8 cygnets!

It was a great trail, apart from the heat, the briars, the stinging nettles, the lack of shiggy. It felt like an assault course but one where you are happy to have survived and lived to tell the tale.

The only D2 went to Pheasant and Plucker for child abuse, that is, attempting to waterboard their Daughter, at the start of the hash. There were other misdemeanours but the general consensus was that we were too hot to care and anyway the pig in the adjacent woodland was far more interesting.
