This was our 8th visit. We also visited on...
A perfectly planned r*n.
Well, we were told there was some ‘up’, and to be fair I can’t complain as I have previously taken the Trail most the way up Ingleborough before, but when other ‘normal’ people are coming down at the end of a day on the fells and you are heading up as the sun is setting, they do think you’re crazy. Guess they’re right there!
A rather long fish hook later we could see which wimps were struggling, and we returned to the trail as it snaked its way back down the slippery fields, across stiles that had seen better days.
But how shocking to only have two arrows chalked on them when there was clearly space for three!
And there was actually one check- Unbelievable, I know! Sadly there must have been some very hungry slugs too as the vital piles of flour were missing. Just when you needed them!
Hashers apparently aren’t allowed through a caravan park so we had to slip and slide our way around it before the split at the A65. Rambos were taken on a detour which I’m told was a reversal of the last full moon but at least this one was in daylight.
Returning to the start we found the injured and suffering wimps who we met on our fish hook- they had been ‘hare-lifted’ off the trail to save any further damage.
Stand in GM was happy to announce that his dip stick to check the consistency of depth of the flour piles was very accurate and gave down downs for being injured, not doing fish hooks and probably something else that I can’t remember.
The Wheatsheaf was a warm refuge providing good looking food and liquid refreshment.
On on until …… tomorrow!
