This was our 4th visit. We also visited on...
We were in the cradle of the Lune Valley Hash - Brookhouse. Indeed in the dwelling of its parents.
Scarce three years since its founding, and we show what stern stuff we're made of: you are what you eat according to folk wisdom and that is mince pies and sherry in an indoors circle BEFORE the run.
The sun was shining as we zig-zagged across Brookhouse and Caton and Brookhouse and Caton and Brookhouse. Markings generally good, but not at Hawthorn where no-one could spot the on-on at the open check. Eventually a concrete coloured chalk arrow was discerned on the back of concrete lamp-post, (found, I may add, with the aid of intelligence received from Atomic Caton whose keen eye sight had spotted the next check whilst making her way to the circle).
A few miles later, but only a few hundred yards away, we nearly regrouped for refreshments. Nearly, because Tooth Fairy was not to be seen. The last reported sighting was at Hawthorne, where, curiously, Tooth Fairy had been spotted going back. Now we know that many hashes send the hares round again to round up any stragglers, should we feel guilty? No!
Round two after refreshments and a gentle hill climb to take in the view and then back for more important things: food and drink.
Down-downs to lots of people, mainly for existing rather than any better reason. Lots of hilarity at the naming of Bald Brick, for working at the brick works, being bald, enjoying Black Adder and hence is now tenuously related via the hash to Slackbladder. Wendy's turn next: will it be Hash Hack? See a future edition of the Trash.
Now to the food - lots of it, and very classy: home made tomato soup (rumours that it was in fact road-kill soup) beef bourguignon, rogan josh, beef stroganoff, stuffed turkey, home made coleslaw, red-cabbage a la Delia, home made bread and lots more delicacies.
Wine, beer, fine and conversation to round off a good run.
And one last little thing, the Orgasmatron, what have we been missing all these years. It's the Orgasmatron Scalp Massager, brought by Tooth Fairy, for our delectation. Now why doesn't my dentist use one of those?
Thanks to all who helped this splendid festive run.
