This was our 1st visit. We also visited on...
An eager bunch set off from the Highwayman ready to stand and deliver. The weather was cold but beautiful with lots of fluffy clouds and no sign of rain or anything worse. There was an immediate rambo-wimp split at which the rambos shot off in the wrong direction only to be shouted back by the hares. We ran through lovely fields and meadows, then passed a not very friendly farmer who chastised us to keep Harry on a lead and asked if I knew where I was going, as I went past him twice while checking a false trail. It's difficult for passers-by to understand what on earth we're doing - and sometimes you just know when not to stop to try and explain!?
This was definitely the shiggy run after all the rain we'd had and we slowly splodged our way through the fields, over stiles and bridges until we came across what can only be described as a large swimming pool. We all carefully waded our way through this lovely clear (and extremely cold) water only to be thwarted by the virgin hare who waited until we'd all got thoroughly wet through before she quickly took a short cut without as much as getting her little toe damp.
We came upon a check (well several actually) and the heavens opened. It hailed and blew a hooly lashing round our cold bodies, Harry had icicles in his hair but still we trudged on. As we were blessed with the presence of the virgin hare we asked her if she could confirm we were on trail to which she replied she could not as that would be cheating. This didn't seem like a very friendly thing to say given the state we were now in! She did, however, acknowledge that there had been trail once upon a time but this had now disappeared because the weather had blown/washed it away/*sheep had eaten it/*a tractor had run over it *(delete as appropriate).
Finally, we made our way back along the main road which led us to the On Inn where we all formed the obligatory circle and showed the three new virgins how it was done. Down downs were awarded to:-
Thank you hares for another wonderful run with spectacular views, beautiful houses along the way and plenty of cross-country trail to give us our fix until the next time.
Quote of the run "We run twice a month on a full moon" (CS explaining our run regime to the virgins). Maybe they do on Mars!!
