We had a long but enjoyable drive on Thursday evening down to the wilds of Dorset. On arriving at the venue we pitched our tent in the dark and went off looking for the bar. The Red Dress Run returned from Weymouth and we chatted for a while before going off to bed.
Friday – we had a free day and after Cyber bought some breakfast from the café at the venue we went into Crewkerne for coffee and a wander round. On returning to the venue we had a mooch around the site, found out where everything was and had fun catching up with friends. The hog roast was good and it was followed by a short and good opening ceremony. The marquee was filling up as more and more people arrived, the beer was flowing, the disco was playing good music, followed by a brilliant band and everyone was happy. It was a great night!
Saturday – a good cooked breakfast to start the day and then decision time, which run to choose? There was a good choice of about 7 runs ranging form the ball breaker to a gentle stroll from the site. We chose a long run which took us over the highest hill on the south coast – Golden Cap. It was a really good trail, laid by Plympton Hash. Very hilly and long – the weather was great and there was a good pub/ice cream shop halfway round! We forgot the camera so no photos of the trail – sorry!
Once we got back to the site, after a delay cos one hasher didn’t make it back to the bus and the hares had to decide what to do etc, Cyber and I rushed off to meet some friends in a local pub. It was good to catch up with them. Then it was back to the site for tea – again good food, followed by dressing up for the theme ‘At the Movies’. Some of the fancy dress costumes were magnificent and Oscars were awarded. Loads of chatting, dancing and generally a good time was had by all.
Sunday – ok so many people had legs that were a bit sensitive after Saturday’s runs and dancing but after a good continental breakfast we were all queuing for the buses again. Cyber and I were undecided between a woodland run of about 6 miles or a downhill run in the sub-tropical area of Abbotsbury. We chose the longer, woodland trail. It was a good runner’s trail and was followed by a fun circle. We lazed around in the afternoon, went to the GM’s meeting as representatives for the North (report later), had an early tea – again good food, and then wandered into the marquee for the evening’s entertainment. This started with the ‘down down’ competition and at last there is someone to challenge Too Tough - Fat Boy Slim was only 0.3 of a second behind! The cabarets started on the stage and the first and last were brilliant. The acts in between were ok-ish. We had a break part way through for a magnificent firework display. More dancing and then the midnight naked run took place. After that we went to bed.
Monday – Good breakfast followed by taking the tent down and packing up in time for the ‘hangover run’ at 11.00. There were quite a few still around for this and it took us off the site, around the village, up a hill, down a hill and back to the site again! The circle was quick so that we could get on with the closing ceremony. After a while we decided to head off as we were going to visit my cousins in the afternoon on the way to my mum and dad’s.
This Nash Hash was one of the best we’ve been to and we are really pleased we made the effort to go. ON ON to Oxford 2015!
