Chipping

What Ho! fellow hashers, tiz Bitter ere trying to remember what happened yesterday. Surveying the (totally un) reliable BBC weather forecast in the morning promised fine weather in Chipping from 10.00am onwards, such promise probably contributing to such a huge turnout with the public car park struggling to accommodate the massive number of hashing vehicles. 2 beer stops and a wimply split lay ahead as we made our way out of the village and past the much lamented Berry furniture works, together with an old mill that apparently awaits planning permission to turn it into a luxury hotel. As it stands at the moment, it would probably serve well as (un) luxury accommodation for a hashing weekend. I can't see them charging much but we'd need to bring a few replacement roof tiles.

Up hill and down dale across boggy fields, totally reliant on Lurch's expert navigation brought us to the first beer stop. Twoz around 11.00am at this point and Dripper made a point about never again relying on the weather forecast as the rain continued to fall. By this time, we were reunited with Twisted (our only front runner I think) before she quickly once again disappeared to get a few extra miles in. On On towards Parlick fell as I fell towards the back of the pack and Dripper fell by way of a hash crash. Our most sexiest of On Sex Highway decided to dispense with the stepping stones across a stream and wade straight through - a wise move because he ended up with remarkably clean footwear as a result. By the time I caught up again with the main pack, they were singing merrily along (can't remember what song) and so I wished I hadn't bothered catching them up. We came upon the second beer stop and Morticia said something about bringing out your dead. It reminded me of a scene from Jamaica Inn.

A brief respite in the weather saw Upperskirt (almost) get her shoes sucked off in a field, with Baldbrick coming to the rescue. (I bet he wished it was the other way around, with no one coming to the rescue).

Bright sunshine greeted our arrival back in Chipping, with Lurch urging us to view the working water wheel. At the same time I saw Upperskirt having been turned to stone (see photo) as a punishment for doing too much hash moooooning over the years.

And so it was on in to the On Inn and what a fine On Inn it was too. This was a great hash and as with the one from Lowick Bridge a few weeks ago, we all agreed what a great idea it would be to do it again in finer climes.

On On! Bitter X.
