This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
I don't know how it happened but I ended up multi tasking for the "Grand Hash Day Out" (pass the Wensleydale Gromit)!. Not only did I get to do Hash Flash in Bitter's absence, but I also got deputy RA ..... in Septics absence and the bl**dy scribe job (wish I was absent). All I can say is that I will keep my big mouth shut in future - that is if I can get the broom out of it!
It was a good turn out at Coniston with Bubbles/Forever Blowing obviously having gone to a lot of trouble to give us all a great r*n. We set off up hill and down dale, through woods and fields following the replacement live hares. Bubbles was not haring as he was feigning a sore rib - take more water with it next time Bubbles! Needless to say we never caught up with the hares, Lurch or Thunderdick until the lunch stop but then again, we don't see much of them when we all set off together on a normal hash day out! After a beer stop with home-made flapjack, we did lots of up and then more up, forays around quarries and after a small amount of tarmac, we hit the lunch stop 4.90 miles (is that all!) later in the Langdale Valley - The Three Shires. After a fab meal (pre-ordered and delivered in precision fashion via Forever), we set off for home knowing our fate ahead (more ups before lots of downs).
We were spoiled at first with a bit of flat land and a beer stop but then the ups started. After lots of up (and some more), we found the hares taking in the views sitting on a hillock and we all started the down together. Back to the second On Inn of the day and finally back to the start for the circle.
Down Downs went to Master Baker (Playboy of the day), Highway (Angel of the day), Dormouse and Speedbump (Fit family of the day), Baldbrick (most irritating g*t of the day) and finally, Tw*t for his 100th r*n.
Well what can we say... it was a fab' day blessed by wonderful weather (too hot), amazing scenery (too hilly), lovely company (too noisy), great food (too many chips), etc etc. We all loved a moan on the day but roll on next year's Grand Day Out!
