This was our 1st visit to this On Inn.
It was a beautiful fine day for our excursion in the Shire. We ventured south of our usual patch to Hurst Green. We arrived a little early to the instructed car park to find no sign of anyone else. I was certain we were in the wrong place and duly set about sending WhatsApp messages when the hares appeared down the road. A few others made it before the 11am deadline - a fairly small turnout.
We set off across fields and down dale in search of hobbits. It was a delightful trail. Good views, well marked route and some very dodgy, poorly maintained stiles. Care needed. The trail followed a lovely path along the riverside where we met several DofE groups. Cotside was glad she was hashing today and not carrying a big pack.
A fairly long route with much appreciated beer stop. I had been persuaded to do the Rambo’s route by the hares. Seems Cotside had done all the checks by herself on the basis of her step count.
The circle was abandoned in favour of the on inn with much needed beer and an excellent prawn sandwich.
Thank you hares for a great day out. Sadly no hobbits spotted.
