This was our 4th visit. We also visited on...
With the country in the grip of heatwave conditions it may have been no surprise that turnout for this hash was on the low side. Indeed, there were only three Wimps and a solitary Rambo at the start at 11 am. Unusually, Lurch and Morticia turned up a few minutes late and then were in hot pursuit of the pack, soon to be united.
There was in effect just the one trail, since only one Rambo was expected. to attend. However there were plenty of checks and fish hooks to keep any front-runners happy. Accompanied by first one hare, then both, there was never any danger of the hounds getting completely lost.
The trail crossed mixed terrain, with forest roads giving way to narrow footpaths then open farmland and fells. All was highly scenic and baking hot, with a slight breeze for relief from time to time.
The hares laid on their characteristic Beer Stop in a rucksack, and all enjoyed a sit down and re-hydration break. More varied terrain brought us back to the start/finish and a quick circle ensued. Down downs to:
The Hares - for being hares
Lurch and Morticia - for being late
Large Package - for trying too hard
Upperskirt - for her lack of Hash Haberdash
There could certainly have been more punishment dealt out, but the pub was awaiting our arrival so the circle was cut short. The pub, under new management, produced some great food, and had a paddling pool in the beer garden, enjoyed by Upperskirt and Speedbump.
On On!
