Today's run took us into Hyning Woods, a truly magical place, where you feel a sense of a people that have gone before. It's almost as if the trees have eyes....

The first check in a clearing gave us a sharp change of direction, steeply uphill past a lime kiln and across open fields to a road where we turned towards Leighton Hall and onto a footpath with a bird's eye view of the hall. Our turn to be the viewers instead of the watched? From here the tail end of the Rambos was visible, as they turned right, in front of the hall. Two minutes later, when I reached that spot, the Rambos, had completely disappeared. The land had swallowed them up! Just when I was feeling a little despondent, ( Lurch, had taken the Rambos route), a fairy appeared and on a promise, pointed me in the right direction, across fields where not a single dollop of flour was apparent. Who or what had devoured it? With a sense of trepidation, I entered the woods. Still no markings! But then, shimmering on a tree stump, the blessed white stuff!

As the trail continued, more evidence of mischief appeared. This was obvious from the tons of shiggy liberally dumped on the path. It was black and slimy and squelched and squeaked and indeed Spare Bed succumbed to the trap and had a mucky bum to prove it!

The Wimps/Rambos split soon followed and the hares popped out by a gate along with their goodies for the beer stop.

Then it was back into Hyning Woods on a different path and on to the circle.

D2's went to : the hares for arranging a magical trail, with good weather, and even sunshine!

To Big Fish, the magic of the woods filled him with so much exuberance that he stripped off his top half and ran half naked for part of the run!

The on inn was The Old School Brewery, which is always worth a visit.
