This was our 2nd visit. We also visited on...
Lovely sunny evening for a full moon run. Madge and Syd missed the circle but they caught us up after a slightly late start, as they had parked in the wrong car park initially!
The trail went along the Main Street from Low Bentham to High Bentham then across the fields, opening out to reveal some terrific panoramic views of Ingleborough.
The flour neatly placed in the centre of cowpats was easy to spot and one field did have quite a number of cows in it and whilst they appeared to be calm and just eating the grass whilst we ran through, the hares did report to us later on in the evening that one of them suffered cow lick whilst laying the trail on the stile!
We think that we heard pigs grunting in green poly tunnels further along the trail, but then again it may just have been Balbrick passing wind!
The lane heading towards the beer stop was very overgrown and uneven underfoot, made it difficult going for walkers and slowed the runners down considerably. Think we all may have been eyeing up No More Cum’s walking poles at this point!
Beer stop was very pleasant with a real treat ‘Jammy Dodgers’ a well-received snack, then onwards across more fields towards Burton in Lonsdale. Balbrick was convinced we were all going too far in the wrong direction, asking “how long is this supposedly one hour run going to take?”. Already one hour in and heading away from Bentham! Lovely woods ahead and we did make it back to Bentham before dark.
The hares had suggested that we meet up for a circle in the car park, but a note on the car windscreen advised us that they’d already headed into the On Inn. The food at the Sundial Low Bentham was excellent, plenty of chilli, both meat and veggie and enough for seconds for most of us hungry hashers!
At the circle round the tables in the pub, Cyber suggested that Wobbly Hooker come more often on the hashes, as we have only recently seen her when she has been haring!
Many thanks go to Wobbly Hooker and Upperskirt for a splendid 9.5km run on a fabulous summers evening.
