Sizergh

Well well, another month, another WET Sunday morning, each with dire/helpful advance warnings from the hares...."It's wet out there - spare shoes, pantaloons, socks, etc, etc"......"unrelenting rain, etc, etc". Were we deterred? Certainly not, we are not wimps are we? Some of us may be walkers but wimps we are NOT.

So a round dozen of us turned up at the start, unusually the vacant but conveniently available car park of the closed Strickland Arms. Our wonderful hareing family had, we were told, all reccied [spellcheck??] the run but they wisely sent out just Bedtime Stories to set the trail early that morning in torrential rain.

As is the way of these things, we saw little of the said rain and enjoyed a pleasant undulating route, skirting Sizergh Castle and along manicured tracks until we reached open fields and navigation challenges (more of that later). There was one of the best beer stop locations - beside Helsington Church with its splendid view across the Lyth Valley and beyond.

From this point our principle hare (BS) kindly pointed the route I was to take as a lone wimp, only for me to go instantly off trail. Called back, from then on I was shepherded by Spare Bed who ran ahead and back repeatedly, thereby going a considerable way to achieving her monthly target of runnng 80 miles! Thank you SB!

I was part of a select trio with WN and OHT for most of the trail, so missed out on opportunities to winess the misdemeanours, a few of which were highlighted in the circle. The circle also included the delayed presentation to White Noise of an inscribed ceramic plate to mark her 400 runs - a notable achievement WN!

Thank you hares for a great trail
