Newcastle '600'

LVH3 Hounds: Bubbles, Forever Blowing, Lurch, Morticia, Baldbrick, Upperskirt, Hash Drunk and Pickmeup

Held on 9th to 11th September 2005 at Westhall Scout Campsite, Moor Lane, Cleadon

Off we went for a weekend at the seaside to join Newcastle hash on their Nylon Heaven (9/11) weekend, which was their 600th run.

We were welcomed by Mouldy Dick with a goody bag and, oh no, another orange T shirt! In his own inimitable way he told us that we were guaranteed a screw, and sure enough, in every bag there were two condoms and, yes, you've got it, a screw sellotaped to the packet!

Some 'sensible' people camped in their own cozy tents, whilst Hash Drunk, Pickmeup, Baldbrick and myself slept (well, stayed in!) the bunk barn. Five star? Of course not! If you can imaging twenty to thirty grotty little boy scouts (I do like kids, really!) all going to bed wet and dirty and bouncing on the mattresses, well you can imagine the luxury that we stayed in! But hey, we're hashers. We like roughing it! It was a good laugh but I've invested in some ear plugs for the next time I sleep in the same room as several snorers!

The fancy dress on Saturday night, Nylon, saw Baldbrick modelling my mother's nighty (not a pretty sight!), me in my mother's underskirt (not much prettier!), Bubbles and Hash Drunk looking equally as delightful in someone's nightdresses (not theirs I hope!), and Forever Blowing in a bloody wedding dress! Very elegant, as was Moritcia who was sporting some little black number. Pickmeup was also looking lovely in something designer! Lurch went to no effort at all but ended up wearing a blue nylon wig for about ten minutes. Hash Drunk ended up putting his dress on the camp fire and partying on in his underpants. As you do!

Now then, what was the main reason for going - oh yes, hashing! The run on Saturday was long (about 8/9 mls) but good, a real mixture of rivers (which we waded through) fields and woods. Sundays run was shorter, better weather, with an ice cream stop near the sea. Lovely.

The band on Saturday night were really good and kept many of us dancing throughout the gig. Earlier in the evening we were treated to a sing song along to guitar playing by another visiting hasher, Jake The Peg. Newcastle were great hosts. We were well fed with a full breakfast, cereal, yoghurts, the works; packed lunches, BBQ on Saturday night, and some lovely soup to welcome us on Friday night, made by Counterfit (I think).

LVH have the Adams family - Newcastle have the Bollocks family, which kind of illustrates how different they are from us! Great fun. Hope to see some of them at Alston. Ha wey!

On on, Upperskirt.
