LANCASTER PUB OF THE YEAR 2014
Another hash from the "Station" at Caton, thanks to our hares standing in at short notice.
In pristine condition, they assured us that they had endured such torrential rain when settng the trail that morning that they had been forced to return home and change.
Well, we were fortunate indeed to have dry conditions. It was good to welcome back the family of Tarty Totty, Loose Elastic, Midget Gem and Smartie from Kendal. They steamed ahead as front runners, finding an early and quite lengthy rambo split leading around the river loop to rejoin the wimps trail at the Pipe Bridge.
The beer stop was achieved in such good time that Baldbrick made the execiutive decision that all hounds should take the second rambo split to avoid the unusual situation of striking the On Inn too early! The discrete marking of this said split was missed by a number of over eager runners who were duly awarded down downs later.
A pleasant trail around the riverside at Crook o' Lune led us neatly back to the Station.
A convivial lunch for many of us, along with the Station's customary selection of fine ales, was enjoyed by many of us.
Thank you hares!
